The Browning Auto-5 is a recoil-operated semiautomatic shotgun. It was designed by John Browning in 1898 and was the first successful semiautomatic shotgun design. It was produced from 1900 to 1998.

The Browning Auto-5 was the first mass produced shotgun. It was patented in 1900 and was used by armies during both World Wars, Korea and Vietnam.
